Sun Lounger Bazo with a black frame and teak slats, three-quarter view

A sun lounger lives by a pool or on a lawn from May to September, wet and dry every day. Most fail at the joints or the back mechanism. Bazo has neither weakness: the frame is welded with no exposed bolts, and the teak lying surface drains and dries on its own. This guide is what to look for in a lounger, how Bazo's positions work, and how to care for it.

What makes a lounger last?

A frame that cannot rust or loosen, and a lying surface that drains. Bazo's frame is stainless steel, welded throughout and powder-coated black. The surface is slatted A-grade plantation teak, so rain runs through and the wood dries between uses.

Aluminum and plastic loungers are lighter to carry, and lighter in wind too. Check the joints and the back mechanism on any lounger: that is where they fail.

How does the backrest adjust?

It locks into four fixed positions, from flat for sunbathing to fully reclined for reading. No tools, no knobs. Lift and drop it into the next notch.

How big is it, and how do you move it?

Bazo is 31 x 77 in, and the slats sit 13 in off the ground with the backrest flat. Two wheels at the head end move it: lift the foot end and roll it into the sun or the shade, no carrying.

For two people, the Bazo Day Bed has a canopy frame: 62 x 79 in and 79 in high.

Sun lounger cushion: thickness, fabric, leaving it out

Bazo comes with its cushion: full length, head to foot, in Sunproof Fontelina olefin in Oat. On any lounger, judge three things.

Thickness: you lie on a lounger cushion for hours, so test it lying down, not by pressing it with your hand. It should cover the slats from end to end and stay in place when you raise the backrest.

Fabric: solution-dyed, so the color runs through the fiber and the sun cannot bleach it. Ours is tested to 1,500 hours of weathering and rated for pool and sea water. The cover lifts off.

Leaving it out: a shower is fine, water beads off and the fabric dries fast. For days of rain and over winter, bring it in. Bare teak is cool on a hot day and fine between swims; the cushion is for an afternoon. More in outdoor cushions.

Care

Leave the teak untreated and it goes silver-gray, or oil it once a year for the honey tone. Rinse off chlorine and salt water with fresh water now and then. Bring the cushion in for long rain and winter. The frame can stay out.
