Description

Carl is an oak counter and bar stool with armrests and a backrest, here in dark-stained oak from elbow to floor, handcrafted in Sweden from FSC-certified German oak, in counter height (26 in / 66 cm) or bar height (30 in / 76 cm).

The dark stain gives Carl's generous frame a quieter presence, and the comfort stays: a seat carved in two halves that tilt toward the center, armrests where your elbows expect them, and a backrest for leaning into the second hour. Grain stays visible under the surface, the way stained solid oak should.

Designed by Alexandra Pettersson, Carl is an original by Crea, handcrafted from solid FSC-certified German oak in our Malmö factory, and it arrives fully assembled. Rated for up to 440 lb and covered by our 10-year warranty, it is built to be repaired rather than replaced, with spare parts available long after purchase. The 26 in seat suits counters of 35 to 36 in, the 30 in seat suits bars of 39 to 40 in, with full dimensions in the dropdown below. Stocked finishes ship from our Swedish factory within 1 to 5 business days.

The Carl bar stool is covered by a 10-year warranty, and every seat is rated for a maximum load of 200 kg (440 lbs).

It is crafted from solid A-grade German oak, FSC-certified, meaning the wood comes from responsibly managed forests, and is finished and assembled in our own factory in Malmö, Sweden.

The tobacco brown tone comes from an Osmo natural oil-based stain, certified safe even for children's toys according to EN 71.3 and resistant to saliva and perspiration according to DIN 53160, sealed with a natural matte lacquer.

Care & Maintenance

Wood

Clean down with a microfibercloth, lukewarm water and a very neutral washing agent. Do NOT use acidic solutions.
Our Oak furniture is lacquered with an industrial lacquer that will fade over time. It is a protective layer. By using acidic solutions you will be removing this protection.

NEVER leave metal pans, pots or candleholders on top of an oak top. Oak naturally has tannic acids that will leave a black round mark if you leave metal objects on the surface.

Delivery, Returns & Assembly

Shipping
Shipping is calculated at checkout from your delivery address and the size of your order, so you see the exact cost before you pay. A tracking link reaches you by email the moment your order leaves our factory in Malmö, Sweden.

Delivery time
Orders to the United States are delivered by UPS, normally 2 to 5 business days after dispatch. Made to order pieces are produced first, and that production time is shown on this page.

Assembly
Most of our furniture arrives fully assembled. Dining tables and some outdoor pieces arrive with the top and legs packed separately, and fitting them takes 5 to 10 minutes and one screwdriver.

Returns
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return, provided the piece is unused and in its original condition. Email info@by-crea.com or open the chat and we will arrange it. Return shipping is paid by you at the carrier's actual rate, typically 15 to 20% of the order value, or roughly 35 to 100 USD per package depending on size and destination. We confirm the exact amount before anything is collected.

Custom orders
Anything configured through Design Your Own, with custom dimensions, finishes or materials, is produced specifically for your order and is not eligible for return. Order free samples first, or ask us in the chat, and we will help you get it right the first time.

FAQ

Measure your counter first: a standard 36 in counter calls for a 26 in (66 cm) seat, a 40-42 in bar calls for 30 in (76 cm). A gap of 9-12 in between seat and counter works best.

Armrests make sitting for longer noticeably more relaxed and give you support when sitting down and standing up. Carl is our only oak bar stool with armrests, combined with a backrest and a sculpted two-piece seat.

Both are available: solid oak in the same finish as the frame, or a bouclé seat upholstered over a plywood core. The sculpted two-piece shape is the same on both.

Wipe the oak with a damp cloth and mild soap and keep it out of strong sunlight and away from radiators. A bouclé seat just needs any spills blotted quickly and a gentle clean with lukewarm water.

Allow 22-24 in of width per stool so the armrests are clear, and check that your counter overhang leaves clearance for the armrests when the stool is pushed in.
