Materials & care
- Weatherproof Garden Furniture: Which Materials Really LastGarden furniture that lasts outside has stainless steel frames, teak or sintered stone surfaces and solution-dyed olefin cushions.
- How to Clean and Care for Teak Outdoor Furniture: Oil or SilverTeak garden furniture needs no treatment: left alone it turns silver-grey, oiled every year it stays honey-brown.
- How to Clean Outdoor Cushions, and Can They Stay Out?Clean outdoor cushions with mild soapy water and a soft brush, air-dry them on edge, and store them dry for long rain and winter.
- How to Clean Garden Furniture: Teak, Metal, Stone, CushionsClean garden furniture once in spring: soft brush on teak, damp cloth on metal, household cleaner on stone, and never a pressure washer.
- How to Choose Garden Furniture: A Set That LastsBuild a garden furniture set by choosing dining or lounge, sizing the table to your people and keeping one frame colour.
- Garden Furniture in Winter: Cover It, Store It or Leave It Out?Stainless steel, teak and sintered stone garden furniture can stay out all winter: use a breathable cover or none, never plastic sheeting, and bring the cushions in.
- Steel or Aluminium Garden Furniture? Stainless, Powder-Coated and Aluminium ComparedStainless steel under a powder coat is the metal garden furniture that stays out all year; aluminium is lighter to carry but moves in wind, and plain steel and iron rust where the coat breaks.
- Best Wood for Garden Furniture: Teak vs Acacia, Eucalyptus and PineTeak is the best wood for garden furniture because its natural oils let it last untreated; acacia and eucalyptus need regular oil, and pine needs pressure treatment and paint.
- Teak Garden Furniture: Grade A, FSC and Why It Costs MoreGood teak garden furniture is grade A heartwood, FSC-certified, on a frame that cannot rust; it costs more because teak grows slowly and only the heartwood makes grade A.
- Polyrattan, Teak or Steel? How Long Rattan Garden Furniture LastsPolyrattan sheds rain but ages in sun and frost and usually needs a cover or a shed in winter; teak and stainless steel garden furniture stay out all year with less care.
- Designer Garden Furniture: What High-End Actually Buys YouDesigner garden furniture is worth paying for when the design goes under the paint: stainless steel, welded joints, stone or teak, and fabric that holds its colour.

- Black Garden Furniture: Sun, Dirt, Ageing and Pairing With Teak and StoneBlack garden furniture hides soil and scuffs and goes with teak and stone; it warms in direct sun, so sit on teak, mesh or a cushion, and choose stainless steel under the black.

7 questions
Frequently asked questions
Can garden furniture stay outside all year?
Ours can: stainless steel frames, teak and Dekton stone are made for it. Bring the cushions in for long rain and winter, because the foam lasts longer dry.
Does teak garden furniture need oiling?
No. Left untreated, teak weathers to an even silver-grey. Oil it once a year only if you want to keep the honey colour.
Are the frames stainless steel?
Most are: stainless steel to EN 10088 (1.4306, AISI 304L), powder-coated black. The Arvid lounge chair and the Anton and Leo outdoor coffee tables have powder-coated steel frames.
Do the cushions fade in the sun?
No. They are solution-dyed olefin, so the colour runs through the fibre and the sun does not bleach it.
How many people does the Diana garden table seat?
Four at 160 cm, six at 240 cm and eight at 280 cm on the long sides, with one more at each end.
What seat height for a garden dining table?
46 cm for a 76 cm table. Every garden dining chair we make, Signe, Edith, Elsy and Isa, has a 46 cm seat.
Can I use a pressure washer on garden furniture?
No. It can damage both teak and the powder coat. Water, mild soap and a soft brush once a year are enough.

Five things worth knowing.
Weather, teak, cushions, garden table and care.
What survives outside?
Stainless steel, teak, sintered stone, solution-dyed olefin.
Most of our garden frames are stainless steel (EN 10088, 1.4306, AISI 304L), powder-coated black and welded in Sweden. Seats and tops are A-grade teak, Dekton sintered stone or olefin cushions, chosen because they cope with sun, rain and frost.
Does teak need oiling?
No. Left alone, it weathers to silver-grey.
Our teak is A-grade plantation teak, bought as FSC-certified timber and slatted so rain drains through. Untreated, it turns an even silver-grey and lasts. If you prefer the warm honey tone, oil it once a year. Wash it in spring with water and a soft brush.
- Teak
- Signe, Edith, Arvid, Bazo, Saga, Per, Otto, HedvigA-grade, FSC timber
- Olefin cushion
- Elsy, Isa, Kenny, Tora, Valter, FolkeOat or Dusk
Can the cushions stay out?
A shower is fine. Long rain and winter, bring them in.
Our cushions are Sunproof Fontelina olefin, 100% solution-dyed, with a weathering fastness of 7 to 8 and OEKO-TEX Standard 100. The fabric dries quickly, but the foam inside lasts longer kept dry. Covers lift off; wash with mild soapy water and air-dry on edge.
How many does the table seat?
160 cm seats four, 240 cm six, 280 cm eight.
The Diana garden table has a Dekton sintered stone top on a welded stainless steel frame, 76 cm high and 90 cm deep, in 160, 240 or 280 cm. Our garden dining chairs have a 46 cm seat, the right height for it.
- 160 cm
- 4, or 6 with the ends
- 240 cm
- 6, or 8 with the ends
- 280 cm
- 8, or 10 with the ends
How do I look after it?
Once a year, in spring. Never a pressure washer.
Wash teak with water, mild soap and a soft brush; wipe powder-coated steel with a damp cloth; clean Dekton with any household cleaner. Bring the cushions in for long rain and winter. A pressure washer can damage both teak and the powder coat, so leave it in the shed.
