Stone coffee tables for the living room, made in Sweden

The coffee table is where the evening lands: a cup, a book, feet up after a long day. Ours are made in our own factory in Sweden, with sintered stone tops on slim welded steel, rectangular Anton or round Leo, on their own or as a nest. Choose one level with your sofa seat, or a few centimetres lower. Every table carries a 10-year warranty.

Five things worth knowing.

How high should a coffee table be?

Level with your sofa seat, or a few centimetres lower.

Measure from the floor to the top of the seat cushion with nobody on it, and aim for that height or 2 to 5 cm below. For a 40 to 45 cm sofa, Anton Small or Medium (41.5 or 43.5 cm) or Leo Small (42.5 cm) sit right. Leo Large, at 52.5 cm, is the tall one: best as the outer table in a nest or beside a high seat.

What size for your living room?

Leave 40 to 45 cm between sofa and table.

Walk space decides the size, not the width of the room. Keep 40 to 45 cm between sofa and table so you can pass and sit down, and let the table run about two thirds of the sofa. Anton is 65, 70 or 100 cm long; Leo is 70, 80 or 95 cm across. In front of a compact two-seater, 100 cm is usually too much.

Coffee tables for small living rooms

One table or a nest?

Two or three tables that store as one.

Choose a nest if you would use the second surface most weeks: a cup by the armchair, a tray when friends come round. If it would stay closed all year, choose the single size that meets your sofa. Anton Small set is a medium and a small table; Leo Medium set is 80 and 70 cm; Leo Large set has all three rounds.

Round or rectangular?

Round where people walk around it. Rectangular along a long sofa.

A round table has no corners to catch a knee, so it suits a room you cross on every side. A rectangle follows the line of a long sofa and holds a tray and a book side by side. Leo is our round table and Anton our rectangle; both come on their own or as a nest.

Why sintered stone?

It takes heat, stains and scratches in its stride.

Dekton is a sintered mineral slab, so a hot mug, a wet glass or a set of keys leaves no mark. It comes in Sabbia (beige), Grigio (grey) and Grafite (dark grey), on a black welded steel frame. Order samples to see the three stones in your own light before you choose.

How high should a coffee table be?

Level with your sofa seat, or 2 to 5 cm lower. Most sofa seats are 40 to 45 cm, so look for a table of about 40 to 48 cm. Ours run from 41.5 cm (Anton Small) to 52.5 cm (Leo Large).

What size coffee table for a small living room?

One that leaves 40 to 45 cm between sofa and table. In our range that is Anton Small or Medium, Leo Small, or a nest you keep closed.

What is a nest of tables?

Two or three coffee tables that store as one. Anton's smaller table slides fully under the larger; Leo's round tops overlap by about 40 percent, because each size stands at its own height.

Is the top real stone?

Yes. It is Dekton sintered stone, a mineral slab that resists heat, stains and scratches and never needs sealing. Choose Sabbia (beige), Grigio (grey) or Grafite (dark grey).
