Which seat height fits your counter?

66 cm for most islands.

Most kitchen islands take a 66 cm seat and most bar counters a 76 cm seat. If your counter falls outside both ranges, our steel stools can be made at any seat height from 46 to 90 cm.

Divide the seating side by 55 cm and round down, or by 50 cm for slim stools such as Svea, Eva, Ebba and Freja. A 180 cm island seats three.

With a back or without?

Our rule of thumb: a back for sits over about 20 minutes.

As a rule of thumb, choose a backrest if you sit for more than about 20 minutes. Backless stools slide fully under the counter, which suits quick breakfasts and small kitchens.

Vegan leather, velvet or bouclé.

Vegan leather wipes clean, velvet hides wear, bouclé feels warmest. All three are above the 30,000 Martindale rubs usually specified for commercial seating.

Made in our own factory in Malmö

Steel is cut, bent and welded, oak is machined and joined, and seats are upholstered by hand. Only the raw materials come from suppliers.

How our bar stools are made

Tested by RISE, Sweden

EN 16139 is the European strength and durability standard for non-domestic seating. RISE tested Bruno to level 2 and Philip to level 1, and assessed Freja and Svea as meeting level 1 on the basis of that testing. Separately, we rate every stool for 200 kg.

What height bar stool do I need?

Measure your counter to the underside of the worktop and leave 23 to 26 cm of legroom. A 66 cm seat fits a counter of 89 to 92 cm; a 76 cm seat fits a bar of 99 to 102 cm.

What is the difference between counter stools and bar stools?

Height. A counter stool has a seat of about 66 cm for kitchen counters and islands; a bar stool has a seat of about 76 cm for raised bar counters. Most kitchen islands need counter stools.

How many bar stools fit at a kitchen island?

Divide the seating length by 55 cm and round down, or by 50 cm for slim stools. A 120 cm island seats two, 180 cm three and 240 cm four.

Should I choose bar stools with or without a back?

As a rule of thumb, with a back if you usually sit for more than about 20 minutes, for meals, homework or work. Backless for quick breakfasts and small kitchens, where the stools slide fully under the worktop.

Can you make bar stools in a custom height?

Yes, on our steel models Freja, Philip, Bruno and Svea, welded to order in Malmö at any seat height from 46 to 90 cm. Our oak stools come in 66 and 76 cm.

Where are your bar stools made?

In our own factory in Malmö, Sweden, from FSC-certified European oak and powder-coated steel. Every stool is delivered fully assembled and covered by a 10-year warranty.

How much weight can your bar stools hold?

Every by Crea bar stool is rated for 200 kg. Our steel models have been tested by RISE to EN 16139, the European standard for seating in non-domestic use.
