Short answer
Two or three coffee tables, each a different size and height, made so the smaller one sits under or against the larger one.
Closed, they occupy roughly the footprint of the largest table. Open, you have extra landings for cups, a laptop, or a second armchair.
That is the whole point. If the small table never comes out, you paid for a hinge you do not have: there is no mechanism, only geometry.
Match the large table to the sofa, then let the small one be the spare.
Anton Small set is Medium plus Small (70 x 23.5 in with 65 x 21.5 in). Anton Large set is one Large and two Medium tables (100 x 29.5 in with two of 70 x 23.5 in). Leo Medium set is 31.5 in plus 27.5 in rounds; Leo Large set is all three diameters, 37.4, 31.5 and 27.5 in.
If the sofa is a two-seater, start with Anton Small or Leo Medium. If it is a long three-seater and you host, the large set is the one that stretches along the sofa when pulled apart. Height still follows the sofa seat: see the height guide.
Anton is rectangular and nests fully: the smaller table slides under the larger until you mostly see one top. Leo is round. Each size has its own height, so the tops overlap by about 40 percent instead of disappearing.
That is not a defect. You always see both Leo rounds, which is why a Leo nest still reads as two tables when closed. An Anton nest can look like one table until you pull it.
Side by side, an Anton small set runs 53.1 in. Use that number when you are checking a rug or a walkway.
When you will not move the second table. A single Anton Medium or Leo Medium is then the cleaner buy.
A nest is worth it when guests, homework, or a second seat appear most weeks. It is not worth it as storage for magazines you never read. Style the outer top only, and keep the inner table empty so it can come out.
