Short answer
A cup landing, then at most three things: a tray, a book or two, and one object shorter than your glass.
The landing is the point of the furniture. If a guest cannot put a drink down without moving a candle, the table is styled for a catalogue, not a room.
A tray corrals the remote and the lighter so they leave the stone. A book gives height without blocking sightlines across a low sofa. One object (a bowl, a small vase) is enough. Flowers that sit above eye line when you are seated are for a dining table.
Clear a rectangle the size of a dinner plate and keep it clear.
On Anton, that plate lives on the stone. Sintered stone takes heat and a wet ring better than oak or a filmed 'marble' top. Wipe it. Do not seal it.
On a nest, dress the table you leave out and keep the tucked table empty. When guests come, pull the second top and move the tray. That is the whole trick people buy a nest for, and it only works if the hidden table is not already a storage dump.
A round Leo wants a centered stack; a rectangular Anton wants a line or an L.
Center a tray on Leo so knees still pass the rim. On Anton Large (100 x 29.5 in) put the tray to one side and leave the other half open. Filling both halves is how a long table becomes a shop window.
If the room is a walk-through, Leo's missing corners matter more than the objects on top. Style does not fix a shin.
Nothing taller than a seated sightline. No scented candle under a shelf that will soot the stone. No stack of books you have not opened this year.
Coasters are optional on sintered stone; they are not optional on oak. If you chose oak on Leo, use them. If you chose stone, a tray is still useful for the clutter, not because the top is fragile.
Show one top. Hide or overlap the other.
UK 'nest of tables' and US 'nesting coffee table' are the same job: two (or three) heights, one footprint. Anton hides the small table completely. Leo always shows a slice of the lower round. Style the upper top only. When you split the nest, each table gets its own cup landing, not a duplicate of the same three objects.
