The top is 1.2 in, so the underside sits at 28.7 in. That underside is what your thighs meet. Measure it on any other table before you mix chairs: a thick sculpted top can steal the gap even when the top height looks standard.
How high is a dining table?
30 in to the top, on Ann, Diana, Melker and Luna.
How much space between chair and table?
9.8 to 12 in from the top of the seat to the tabletop, and at least 7.9 in from the seat to the underside or apron.
An 18.1 in seat under our 30 in table leaves 12 in to the top and 10.6 in to the underside. Karin at 19.7 in leaves 10.2 in and 9 in. Both sit in the comfort band. The dining chair height guide has the chart per model.
Dining height vs counter and bar
Dining 30 in. Counter about 35.5 in. Bar about 39.4 in.
A 26 in counter stool at a 30 in table puts your knees up. A dining chair at a 35.5 in island puts the countertop at your chest. Buy the surface and the seat as a pair. Bar stool height is a different guide.
Armrests under the table
They have to pass under 28.7 in on our tables, or under the apron on someone else's.
Sella arms sit at 25.2 in, Erik at 26.4 in. Both clear 28.7 in. A deep apron on an antique table is the usual surprise. Measure the lowest edge, not the top.
