How deep should a bench be?
15.4 to 15.7 in on Wilma and Alva. That is enough to sit and put shoes on without blocking a hall. Deeper benches are lounge seating, not hall seating.
What seat height?
18.1 in, the height of a dining chair. It works at a 30 in table, in a hall and at the end of most beds.
If the bench is only for the end of a bed, its top should sit at or a little below the mattress, so 18.1 in suits most frames.
