Erik Dining Chair

Design your own

Description

Erik is a solid oak dining chair with armrests, a backrest and a sculpted two-piece seat, here in Dark Oak, handcrafted in Sweden from FSC-certified German oak.

The tobacco-brown Osmo stain gives Erik the character of old library furniture with none of the bulk. Armrests make sitting down and standing up easier and long dinners noticeably more relaxed, the two-piece seat follows how you naturally sit, and a damp cloth is the entire care routine.

Like every by Crea original, Erik is designed by Alexandra Pettersson and handcrafted from solid FSC-certified German oak in our Malmö factory, and it arrives fully assembled. It carries 440 lbs, the warranty runs ten years, and repair beats replacement here, with spare parts available long after purchase. It is sized for standard dining tables of 28 to 30 inches, with full dimensions in the dropdown below. Each one is made to order and ships in 20 to 25 days.

“Erik shows what solid oak can do when you keep every line clean – a dining chair built to be part of the family for decades.”
— Alexandra Pettersson

Durability & Certifications

The Erik dining chair is covered by a 10-year warranty, and every seat is rated for a maximum load of 200 kg (440 lbs).

It is crafted from solid A-grade German oak, FSC-certified, meaning the wood comes from responsibly managed forests, and is finished and assembled in our own factory in Malmö, Sweden.

The tobacco brown tone comes from an Osmo natural oil-based stain, certified safe even for children's toys according to EN 71.3 and resistant to saliva and perspiration according to DIN 53160, sealed with a natural matte lacquer.

Care & Maintenance

Wood

Clean down with a microfibercloth, lukewarm water and a very neutral washing agent. Do NOT use acidic solutions.
Our Oak furniture is lacquered with an industrial lacquer that will fade over time. It is a protective layer. By using acidic solutions you will be removing this protection.

NEVER leave metal pans, pots or candleholders on top of an oak top. Oak naturally has tannic acids that will leave a black round mark if you leave metal objects on the surface.

Delivery, Returns & Assembly

Shipping
Shipping is calculated at checkout from your delivery address and the size of your order, so you see the exact cost before you pay. A tracking link reaches you by email the moment your order leaves our factory in Malmö, Sweden.

Delivery time
Orders to the United States are delivered by UPS, normally 2 to 5 business days after dispatch. Made to order pieces are produced first, and that production time is shown on this page.

Assembly
Most of our furniture arrives fully assembled. Dining tables and some outdoor pieces arrive with the top and legs packed separately, and fitting them takes 5 to 10 minutes and one screwdriver.

Returns
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return, provided the piece is unused and in its original condition. Email info@by-crea.com or open the chat and we will arrange it. Return shipping is paid by you at the carrier's actual rate, typically 15 to 20% of the order value, or roughly 35 to 100 USD per package depending on size and destination. We confirm the exact amount before anything is collected.

Custom orders
Anything configured through Design Your Own, with custom dimensions, finishes or materials, is produced specifically for your order and is not eligible for return. Order free samples first, or ask us in the chat, and we will help you get it right the first time.

FAQ

Yes. Erik suits standard dining tables 28-30 in (72-76 cm) high; just check that your tabletop or apron leaves clearance for the armrests when the chair is pushed in. Allow 26-28 in (65-70 cm) of table width per chair so the armrests stay clear.

Armrests make long dinners noticeably more relaxed and give you support when sitting down and standing up. Erik is our only oak dining chair with armrests, combined with a backrest and a sculpted two-piece seat.

Yes. We do not offer a re-covering service, but seats can be bought separately: solid oak in the same finish as the frame, or a bouclé seat upholstered over a plywood core. The sculpted two-piece shape is the same on both, so the seat type can be changed later.

Wipe the oak with a damp cloth and mild soap and keep it out of strong sunlight and away from radiators. A bouclé seat just needs spills blotted quickly and a gentle clean with lukewarm water.

No. Oak chairs sit comfortably against painted, stone and darker wood tables, and a contrasting chair often looks more considered than a matched set. Erik comes in Oak, Dark Oak and Black Oak, so you can match the tone of your table or contrast it on purpose.

Yes. Order wood and bouclé samples, or a complete test chair with free returns, and live with it at your own table for a while.

Solid A-grade FSC-certified German oak, a 440 lbs (200 kg) seat rating and a 10-year warranty. Every Erik is built and inspected by hand in our own factory in Malmö, Sweden.
