Description
Alva is a solid oak bench in a natural oak finish, handcrafted in Sweden from A-grade FSC-certified German oak. It comes in three lengths: 26, 39 and 51 inches (65, 100 and 130 cm).
This is Alva at its most elemental: nothing but oak, its grain sealed under a natural matte lacquer that protects the wood while keeping it feeling like wood. The low profile sits as naturally along a hallway wall as at the foot of a bed, and the bare seat means nothing to maintain beyond a wipe with a damp cloth, with no oiling needed.
Like every by Crea original, Alva is designed by Alexandra Pettersson and handcrafted from solid FSC-certified German oak in our own factory in Malmö, and it arrives fully assembled. It carries 440 lbs, the warranty runs ten years, and repair beats replacement here, with spare parts available long after purchase. Full dimensions for every length are in the dropdown below. Care & Maintenance
Wood
Clean down with a microfibercloth, lukewarm water and a very neutral washing agent. Do NOT use acidic solutions.
Our Oak furniture is lacquered with an industrial lacquer that will fade over time. It is a protective layer. By using acidic solutions you will be removing this protection.
NEVER leave metal pans, pots or candleholders on top of an oak top. Oak naturally has tannic acids that will leave a black round mark if you leave metal objects on the surface.
Delivery, Returns & Assembly
Shipping
Shipping is calculated at checkout from your delivery address and the size of your order, so you see the exact cost before you pay. A tracking link reaches you by email the moment your order leaves our factory in Malmö, Sweden.
Delivery time
Orders to the United States are delivered by UPS, normally 2 to 5 business days after dispatch. Made to order pieces are produced first, and that production time is shown on this page.
Assembly
Most of our furniture arrives fully assembled. Dining tables and some outdoor pieces arrive with the top and legs packed separately, and fitting them takes 5 to 10 minutes and one screwdriver.
Returns
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return, provided the piece is unused and in its original condition. Email info@by-crea.com or open the chat and we will arrange it. Return shipping is paid by you at the carrier's actual rate, typically 15 to 20% of the order value, or roughly 35 to 100 USD per package depending on size and destination. We confirm the exact amount before anything is collected.
Custom orders
Anything configured through Design Your Own, with custom dimensions, finishes or materials, is produced specifically for your order and is not eligible for return. Order free samples first, or ask us in the chat, and we will help you get it right the first time.
FAQ
Bare oak is the most minimal option: sculpted wood, nothing to maintain beyond a wipe, and it only gains character with age. The bouclé cushion adds softness for longer sits — at a bed end or in a reading corner. Both use the same bench underneath, so it comes down to how you will use it.
It does not need to match. Natural oak suits light rooms, dark oak warms a room with tobacco-brown depth, and black oak reads almost graphic while the grain stays visible. Contrasting wood tones often look more deliberate than a near-match.
Wipe it with a damp cloth and mild soap. The matte lacquer seals the wood, so no oiling is needed; just avoid standing water and direct heat sources.
Yes. We do not offer a re-covering service, but the bouclé cushion can be bought separately at any time and swapped yourself — so a bare bench can gain a cushion later, and a worn cushion never means a new bench.
