Description

Sella is a steel dining chair with armrests and a seat that appears to float inside its frame, here in Jade Black vegan leather on black steel, handmade in Sweden for dinners that run long.

Black on black, read through texture: matte powder-coated steel against fine-grained leather. The floating seat keeps the silhouette open, the backrest holds you through the last course, and the armrests make Sella the chair guests are slowest to leave. The leather wipes clean with a damp cloth.

Like every by Crea original, Sella is designed by Alexandra Pettersson and fully welded from raw Swedish steel in our Malmö factory, and it arrives fully assembled. It carries 200 kg, the warranty runs ten years, and repair beats replacement here, with spare parts available long after purchase. It is sized for standard dining tables of 72 to 76 cm, with full dimensions in the dropdown below. This version ships in 1 to 5 days.

The Sella dining chair is covered by a 10-year warranty, and every seat is rated for a maximum load of 200 kg (440 lbs).

Its welded steel frame is tested and certified for intensive commercial use: it complies with EN 16139 Level 2, the European standard for heavy contract use, EN 1022 for stability and EN 1728 for strength and durability. Certified by RISE, Sweden.

The Valencia vegan leather upholstery is rated at 300,000 Martindale, around ten times the requirement for commercial furniture, carries the PERMABLOK3 protective finish and a 5-year fabric warranty from Spradling.

Fire safety is covered by EN 1021-1 and EN 1021-2, the European standards for resistance to ignition from a smouldering cigarette and a match flame, as well as CRIB 5, the British contract furniture fire safety requirement.

Wipe down with a microfiber cloth, lukewarm water and neutral washing detergent. Do not use ph acidic or basic solutions like acetone or bleach.

Frame

Wipe with a microfiber cloth, lukewarm water and a normal cleaning agent. Refrain from using too acidic solutions as this will fade out the outer protection of the powder-coat.

Yes. Sella is sized for standard dining tables 72-76 cm high; just check that your tabletop or apron leaves clearance for the armrests when the chair is pushed in. Allow 65-70 cm of table width per chair so elbows and armrests stay clear.

Yes. The seat is upholstered over high-density cold-cut foam, the backrest supports you through long dinners, and the armrests take the weight off your shoulders. Sella is our only steel dining chair with armrests.

We do not offer a re-covering service, but the seat cushion can be bought separately and changed at home, and on two-tone versions the zipped vegan leather armrest covers are available as spare parts. A worn seat never means a new chair, and buying a new cushion later is an easy way to change the fabric.

Wipe the upholstery with lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft cloth, and the powder-coated steel frame with a damp cloth. The vegan leather has an easy-clean protective finish rated to 300,000 Martindale.

No. Sella sits just as well against oak, stone and painted tables, and a contrasting chair often looks more considered than a matched set. Mixing two colourways from the same family around one table is a common choice.
