Sella is a steel dining chair with armrests and a floating seat, here upholstered in Jade Black Matteo velvet on black steel, handmade in Sweden for dinners that run long.

Velvet turns the black soft: the pile shifts with the light, so the same chair reads different at breakfast and at dinner. The dense weave is water repellent and OEKO-TEX certified, the backrest holds you through the last course, and the armrests do the quiet work of keeping everyone at the table.

Like every by Crea original, Sella is designed by Alexandra Pettersson and fully welded from raw Swedish steel in our Malmö factory, and it arrives fully assembled. It carries 200 kg, the warranty runs ten years, and repair beats replacement here, with spare parts available long after purchase. It is sized for standard dining tables of 72 to 76 cm, with full dimensions in the dropdown below. This version ships in 1 to 5 days.

The Sella dining chair is covered by a 10-year warranty, and every seat is rated for a maximum load of 200 kg (440 lbs).

Its welded steel frame is tested and certified for intensive commercial use: it complies with EN 16139 Level 2, the European standard for heavy contract use, EN 1022 for stability and EN 1728 for strength and durability. Certified by RISE, Sweden.

The Matteo velvet is a 100% polyester weave rated at 130,000 Martindale, more than four times the requirement for commercial furniture, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and finished with a water-repellent treatment.

Fire safety is covered by EN 1021-1, the European standard for resistance to ignition from a smouldering cigarette, and California TB 117.

Care & Maintenance

Wipe down with a microfiber cloth, lukewarm water and neutral washing detergent. Do not use ph acidic or basic solutions like acetone or bleach.

Frame

Wipe with a microfiber cloth, lukewarm water and a normal cleaning agent. Refrain from using too acidic solutions as this will fade out the outer protection of the powder-coat.

Yes. Sella is sized for standard dining tables 72-76 cm high; just check that your tabletop or apron leaves clearance for the armrests when the chair is pushed in. Allow 65-70 cm of table width per chair so elbows and armrests stay clear.

Yes. The seat is upholstered over high-density cold-cut foam, the backrest supports you through long dinners, and the armrests take the weight off your shoulders. Sella is our only steel dining chair with armrests.

We do not offer a re-covering service, but the seat cushion can be bought separately and changed at home, and on two-tone versions the zipped vegan leather armrest covers are available as spare parts. A worn seat never means a new chair, and buying a new cushion later is an easy way to change the fabric.

Vacuum the velvet with a soft brush attachment and blot spills straight away with a dry cloth rather than rubbing. The powder-coated steel frame needs only a damp cloth. The Matteo velvet is water repellent and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.

No. Sella sits just as well against oak, stone and painted tables, and a contrasting chair often looks more considered than a matched set. Mixing two colourways from the same family around one table is a common choice.
