160 cm seats four, 240 cm six, 280 cm eight on the long sides. Add a chair at each end if the table is at least 90 cm wide. We do not make an extending table: buy the length.

Dining table size is a length, a width, and an honest seat count. Shops will sell you an extending mechanism you have to live with every Tuesday. We do not. Ann, Diana and Melker come in 160, 240 and 280 cm. This guide is who fits at each length, when the ends count, and when a round Luna is the smaller-room answer. Every table is 76 cm high, made in Sweden.

How long a dining table do I need?

Count the people who eat there most weeks, not Christmas.

Four people: 160 cm. Six: 240 cm. Eight: 280 cm. Those are our published ratings on Ann, deliberately generous so chairs with arms still fit. A generic 60 cm-per-chair chart can squeeze more onto the long sides; we would rather you sit well.

If the household is four with guests once a month, 160 cm plus the two ends (six) on a 90 cm-wide table is the purchase. If guests are the point of the room, buy 240 or 280. Do not buy a 160 and hope it grows.

Can I seat people at the ends?

Yes, one chair at each end, if the table is at least 90 cm wide and the legs leave knee room.

Ann is 90 cm deep. Legs sit 12.4 cm in from the short ends, so a chair can go between them. That is how a 160 cm Ann becomes six seats without magic.

Diana and Ann can be made in a custom width. About 90 cm is the comfort tip if chairs sit on both long sides. Narrower is possible; it is a recommendation, not a verdict.

We do not make an extendable dining table

There is no leaf, no butterfly, no hidden extra 80 cm.

The search is real. The product is not. Custom length on Ann is a made-to-order table at a fixed size, not a mechanism. If you need two lengths in one life, you need two rooms or a second table, not a slide.

Width

Ann's stated depth is 90 cm. That holds two place settings and a dish in the middle.

If the room is a galley, custom width on Ann or Diana is the lever, not a shorter length that costs seats.

Round as the other size

Luna is 110 or 140 cm across, still 76 cm high. Four seats at 110 cm, six at 140 cm with our dining chairs. The round size guide is its own page.

What size rug under a dining table?

About 60 cm wider than the table on every side, so a chair pulled out still has all four legs on the rug.

That makes 280 x 210 cm for a 160 x 90 cm table, 360 x 210 cm for 240 x 90 cm, and a round rug of about 230 cm for the 110 cm Luna, or 260 cm for the 140 cm one. If the room cannot take that, go without: a rug that catches the back chair legs is worse than none. Choose a flat weave or short pile so chairs slide.
