Bruno in steel and Carl in solid oak have armrests, which make sitting down and getting up easier during long meals. Bruno is tested by RISE to EN 16139 level 2; Carl is our widest stool at 54 cm across the armrests and needs 60 cm of counter each.

Which seat height fits your counter?

66 cm for most islands.

Most kitchen islands take a 66 cm seat and most bar counters a 76 cm seat. If your counter falls outside both ranges, our steel stools can be made at any seat height from 46 to 90 cm.

How many bar stools fit my island?

At 55 cm each, standard or slim. Drag to try your length.

Divide the seating side by 55 cm and round down, or by 50 cm for slim stools such as Svea, Eva, Ebba and Freja. A 180 cm island seats three.

With a back or without?

Our rule of thumb: a back for sits over about 20 minutes.

As a rule of thumb, choose a backrest if you sit for more than about 20 minutes. Backless stools slide fully under the counter, which suits quick breakfasts and small kitchens.

Which upholstery?

Vegan leather, velvet or bouclé.

Vegan leather wipes clean, velvet hides wear, bouclé feels warmest. All three are above the 30,000 Martindale rubs usually specified for commercial seating.

Overall height is at a 66 cm seat; add 10 cm at 76 cm. Every model is rated for 200 kg, delivered fully assembled and covered by a 10-year warranty.

Made in our own factory in Malmö

Steel is cut, bent and welded, oak is machined and joined, and seats are upholstered by hand. Only the raw materials come from suppliers.

How our bar stools are made

Tested by RISE, Sweden

EN 16139 is the European strength and durability standard for non-domestic seating. RISE tested Bruno to level 2 and Philip to level 1, and assessed Freja and Svea as meeting level 1 on the basis of that testing. Separately, we rate every stool for 200 kg.

Which bar stools have armrests?

In our range, Bruno in powder-coated steel and Carl in solid oak. Allow 55 cm of counter per stool for Bruno and 60 cm for Carl, our widest seat.

Which by Crea stool has the widest seat?

Carl, at 54 cm wide and 43 cm deep, with armrests.

Does a wider seat mean fewer stools?

Sometimes. As a starting point, allow 55 cm of counter per stool for most seats, 50 cm for slim seats up to about 41 cm, and 60 cm for seats over 50 cm.

Is a bigger seat more comfortable?

For long sits, yes, up to about 47 cm wide. A backrest and footrest matter as much as seat size.
