Which seat height fits your counter?

66 cm for most islands.

Most kitchen islands take a 66 cm seat and most bar counters a 76 cm seat. If your counter falls outside both ranges, our steel stools can be made at any seat height from 46 to 90 cm.

Frequently asked questions

Are backless bar stools uncomfortable?

Not for short sits. For coffee or a quick breakfast a padded backless stool is comfortable. For most people, a backless stool becomes more tiring after about 20 minutes because there is nothing to lean against, so we recommend a backrest for meals and work.

Are backless stools better for small kitchens?

Usually, yes. They slide completely under the counter and free the walkway. Eva and Svea tuck fully under a standard 90 cm counter.

Do backless stools save space?

Yes. They slide fully under the counter when not in use, turning the space behind the island back into a walkway.

Are backless bar stools bad for your back?

Not for short sits. Over a long meal, most people find a backless stool more tiring because there is nothing to lean against, so we recommend a backrest for meals and work.
