Description
Hedvig is a garden bench with a slatted A-grade teak seat on a fully welded stainless steel frame, powder-coated black. It comes in three lengths, 65, 100 and 130 cm, and all three sit at 46 cm, the same height as a dining chair. Every bench is handmade in our own factory in Malmö, Sweden.
The teak is cut into slats and set with gaps, so rain falls straight through instead of sitting on the seat. The wood dries from both sides and comes through a Swedish winter without softening. Left untreated it turns an even silver-grey. Oiled once or twice a summer it keeps the warm brown it arrived with.
The frame is welded rather than bolted, so there is nothing on it to work loose, and every screw supplied is stainless steel. It carries 200 kg. Designed by Alexandra Pettersson. Partial assembly, with everything you need included. Ten-year warranty, with spare parts available long after purchase.
“A bench is the easiest thing in a garden to get wrong. Hedvig is one welded line and a run of teak slats, and the spacing between those slats is the only detail that matters.”

Durability & Certifications
Care & Maintenance
Frame
Wipe with a microfiber cloth, lukewarm water and a normal cleaning agent. Refrain from using too acidic solutions as this will fade out the outer protection of the powder-coat.
Wood
Clean down with a microfibercloth, lukewarm water and a very neutral washing agent. Do NOT use acidic solutions.
Our Oak furniture is lacquered with an industrial lacquer that will fade over time. It is a protective layer. By using acidic solutions you will be removing this protection.
NEVER leave metal pans, pots or candleholders on top of an oak top. Oak naturally has tannic acids that will leave a black round mark if you leave metal objects on the surface.
Delivery, Returns & Assembly
Shipping
Shipping is calculated at checkout from your delivery address and the size of your order, so you see the exact cost before you pay. A tracking link reaches you by email the moment your order leaves our factory in Malmö, Sweden.
Delivery time
Orders across Europe are delivered by UPS, normally 3 to 5 working days after dispatch. Made to order pieces are produced first, and that production time is shown on this page.
Assembly
Most of our furniture arrives fully assembled. Dining tables and some outdoor pieces arrive with the top and legs packed separately, and fitting them takes 5 to 10 minutes and one screwdriver.
Returns
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return, provided the piece is unused and in its original condition. Email info@by-crea.com or open the chat and we will arrange it. Return shipping is paid by you at the carrier's actual rate, typically 15 to 20% of the order value, or roughly 30 to 90 EUR per package depending on size and destination. We confirm the exact amount in your own currency before anything is collected.
Custom orders
Anything configured through Design Your Own, with custom dimensions, finishes or materials, is produced specifically for your order and is not eligible for return. Order free samples first, or ask us in the chat, and we will help you get it right the first time.
FAQ
Three lengths, all at the same 46 cm seat height and 39 cm depth. The 65 cm seats one, the 100 cm seats two and the 130 cm seats three. Allow about 60 cm of clear floor in front of whichever you choose.
Yes. The frame is powder-coated stainless steel rated for permanent outdoor exposure, and A-grade plantation teak is naturally oil-rich, so it needs no sealing to stay structurally sound outdoors.
No. The seat is slatted, so rain drains straight through and the wood dries from both sides. There is no flat surface for water to sit on.
Nothing at all, if you like the silver-grey. Left untreated the teak weathers to an even patina. To keep the original warm tone, apply teak oil once or twice a season and clean with mild soap and warm water.
Partial assembly, with everything needed in the box. Every fastener is stainless steel, so nothing on the bench can rust or stain the teak.
In our own factory in Malmö, Sweden. The frame is welded and powder-coated in house and every bench is inspected by hand before it ships.
