Affe if you cannot drill, or want an oak piece you can move around: 59 cm with a ø30 cm top suits a low or standard bed. The 79 cm Affe, with a ø40 cm top, is a side table for an armchair, not a bedside table.
Floating or pedestal?
Lisa if the floor is small, or you want the top at exactly your mattress height: it screws to the wall, 30 by 31 cm, with two vegan leather straps under the oak for books.
Which finish?
Natural oak is clear matte lacquer over the raw colour. Dark oak is a tobacco-brown stain under the same lacquer. Black oak is a black stain with the grain still showing.
The same oak and finishes run through our oak chairs, benches and tables, so a bedroom bench and bedside tables can match. Wood samples exist.
Will water mark it?
The lacquer protects against daily use. A glass of water on it overnight is fine; a pool of water left for hours is not. Wipe spills and use a coaster if the glass sweats.
No oil, no wax. A deep mark can be sanded and relacquered, which is the point of solid wood.
Solid oak or veneer?
Solid. Look at the edge: solid oak shows the same grain on the top and the edge. A veneered top shows a thin line of oak over a different core.
