Teak keeps water out with its own natural oils, and slats let splashes run straight through, so the lying surface is dry soon after a swim. Ours is A-grade plantation teak, bought as FSC-certified timber.
On cheap loungers, the joints and the frame are what fail. Pool water finds every chip in the paint, and on plain painted steel that is where rust starts. Bazo is welded from stainless steel and powder-coated black, so a knock in the coat does not rust through, and there are no exposed bolts to loosen.
Aluminium and plastic loungers are lighter to carry, and lighter in a gust of wind too. We make neither: our only lounger is teak on stainless steel.
